The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in its Technology and Innovation Report 2025, reported that the market size of frontier technologies such as AI and robotics is projected to increase sixfold, from US$2.5 trillion in 2023 to US$16.4 trillion by 2033.

Recognising this potential, PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk and PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas, a subsidiary of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), have officially established a strategic partnership in the technology innovation, research, and development of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics fields in BSD City.

The MoU was signed by Irawan Harahap, CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem and Development, Sinar Mas Land, and Andrie Tjioe, CEO & President Director of PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas, on 11 May 2026 at the ASIX AI Joint Lab in ITB Innovation Park, Bandung.

Irawan Harahap stated, "This collaboration marks a concrete step in transforming BSD City into a future-oriented township that not only excels in physical infrastructure but also serves as the epicentre of technological innovation in Indonesia. Through this partnership, BSD City opens its doors wider to innovators, researchers, and technology industry players to collectively build a sustainable technology ecosystem.

“We are proud to be part of ASIX’s journey in bringing world-class AI and Robotics capabilities to Indonesia. This is in line with our commitment to establish BSD City as a research and artificial intelligence (AI) centre through our new initiative, mBrace (Make BSD Research and AI Center of Excellence). We hope this initiative will deliver a meaningful and tangible impact to the wider community.”

Through this MoU, both parties have agreed on strategic initiatives, including the development of a Research & Development (R&D) center by PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas, a joint laboratory between China Mobile and Sinar Mas. This R&D center will serve as an innovation laboratory and technology incubator, the implementation of Proof of Concept (POC) programmes to test solutions before broad implementation, the organisation of product showcases, and the establishment of an AI and Robotics Academy.

Andrie Tjioe added, "We are extremely enthusiastic about this collaboration. For us, BSD City is not merely a physical location, but also the right ecosystem partner to realise ASIX’s vision of developing an R&D centre and establishing an AI and Robotics Academy, which will serve as a cradle for the next generation of Indonesian digital talent. We bring technological excellence from the globally proven China Mobile ecosystem, combined with deep insight into the Indonesian industry landscape through Sinar Mas.

“As one of the first concrete implementations, we are introducing the ASIX K9 Robot to support the security system at the Biomedical Campus, BSD City. This serves as tangible proof that the robotic solutions developed by ASIX are not merely conceptual but are ready to be directly deployed to meet the operational needs of a modern urban area."

Representing PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), Marlo Budiman, CEO of PT DSST Mas Gemilang, the DSSA business pillar in the digital infrastructure sector, stated, "The establishment of this research centre is a tangible implementation of the company’s diversification strategy toward future technology sectors. ASIX’s strategic step is designed to create strategic alignment across all business lines, particularly in integrating artificial intelligence solutions with existing digital infrastructure assets. By strengthening this technology pillar, the company aims to build a more robust and adaptive operational foundation to meet the digital transformation needs of the industry in the future."

Located in D-HUB SEZ BSD City, the Technology Innovation Research Center, Artificial Intelligence Academy & Robotics is connected to modern commercial hubs such as The Breeze, Green Office Park, BSD CBD, AEON Mall BSD City, QBig, and ICE BSD. Additionally, the area is surrounded by international educational institutions, including Monash University, Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, IPEKA BSD, Jakarta Nanyang School, and Sinarmas World Academy. As an integrated township spanning approximately 6,000 hectares, BSD City continues to evolve into an integrated smart digital city that brings together residential, business, educational, technological, and lifestyle ecosystems within a single area.

The development of this city is supported by various technology-based infrastructure and solutions, including high-capacity fibre optic networks, Internet of Things (IoT) implementation, digital-based area security and monitoring systems, and the development of data-driven city services that enhance the efficiency of mobility, security, and quality of life for residents. Through the development of digital infrastructure, high-speed connectivity, and collaboration with various global technology companies, BSD City continues to strengthen its position as one of Indonesia’s leading centres for innovation and digital economic growth.

D-HUB SEZ in BSD City is integrated with various toll road networks, the Serpong-Balaraja (Serbaraja) Toll Road Sections 1A & 1B, the Jakarta–Serpong Toll Road integrated with JORR 1, JORR 2, the Japek Toll Road, and the Jagorawi Toll Road. Mobility to and from D-HUB SEZ, BSD City is also supported by various modes of public transportation, ranging from the BSD Link bus, BSD City feeder buses, to the KRL Commuter Line via Cisauk Station at BSD City’s Intermoda Area and Jatake Station at the Hiera Area.
