The next edition of Geo Connect Asia will be held from 6 to 7 March 2024 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, with the theme ‘Geospatial driven impacts: underground, ground and sea to sky’.

\n\n

Working with the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) as its strategic partner, Geo Connect Asia provides a platform for the introduction of geospatial-based solutions across the region. The event is organised by Montgomery Asia.

\n\n

Geo Connect Asia 2024 will be co-located with three major shows: Digital Construction Asia, aimed to help meet the demands for digitalisation in the construction industry; Drones & Uncrewed Asia (formerly Drones Asia), which serves as a platform for the region’s UAV markets showcasing the latest in aerial, unmanned and ground-based solutions; and the inaugural Marine & Hydro Asia, focusing on the hydrospatial challenges of managing key issues related to Asia’s coastal and marine waters.

According to the organiser, more than 130 companies are expected to take part in the combined exhibitions, with more than 70 speakers contributing to the associated conferences. Altogether, the event is anticipated to draw more than 3,500 visitors.

Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has launched the Leica AP20 AutoPole — a new solution for automated total stations that boosts productivity to the next level through tilt compensation, automatic pole height readings and unique target identification.

\n\n

Designed for construction and surveying professionals globally, the AP20 AutoPole combines an intelligent sensor module with the new AP Reflector Pole and operates with Leica Geosystems’ existing automated total stations to create an innovative solution for autonomous workflows.

\n\n

According to Leica Geosystems, the AP20 AutoPole is the world’s first device on the market that solves three common workflow challenges: holding the pole vertical and stable, entering the pole height manually into the field software and locking to a foreign target on a site with multiple reflectors.

\n\n

The tilt compensation of the AP20 AutoPole increases efficiency when working with total stations. Leica said there is no longer a need to level the pole for measurements and stakeout. Tilt compensation decreases measurement time and enhances flexibility and safety on site by enabling the measuring of points in locations that are inaccessible or put the user at risk.

\n\n

By updating the pole height automatically in the field software, the system ensures that the height on record is always correct, which avoids errors, time-consuming postprocessing and returning to the field to remeasure. Additionally, the AP20 AutoPole’s target identification ensures the user’s instrument will always lock to the correct target.

\n\n

This latest innovation is another step towards autonomous workflows in line with Hexagon’s mission to develop autonomous solutions that lead to increased productivity, safety and sustainability.

\n\n

Note: The Leica AP20 AutoPole was introduced to the global market earlier this year, and the device was recently showcased at the Geo Connect Asia 2022 event in Singapore.
