Cundall expands to offer structural engineering in Singapore

Global engineering firm Cundall has expanded its services in Singapore to include structural engineering with the appointment of Chaoming Yu as associate director to lead the service in the country.

Cundall’s international practice has been delivering structural design for over 40 years and more recently has made a strategic decision to offer this service across Asia, with the appointment of Dong Chen as the Hong Kong-based director of Asia Structures in 2018. The decision to expand followed an increase in demand for multi-disciplinary services in the region.

As a chartered engineer, Ms Yu brings a wealth of experience to Cundall. Her landmark projects include Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2 Expansion, Hong Kong West Kowloon Terminus, Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Building in Hong Kong, Morpheus Hotel in Macau, Sentosa Vessels and Founders’ Memorial (shortlisted design) in Singapore.

Prior joining Cundall, Ms Yu spent many years with Buro Happold in the UK and Hong Kong, followed by AECOM in Hong Kong before joining Passage Projects in Singapore.

“I am so thrilled to join the Cundall team. Cundall has reputation for delivering quality multi-disciplinary services to its clients worldwide, and the culture to push boundaries with sustainable and innovative design is very exciting. I can’t wait to work alongside my new colleagues to raise our profile in structural engineering in Singapore and the rest of Asia,” said Ms Yu.

Marcus Eckersley, director at Cundall Singapore said, “Having been in Singapore for 10 years and where have built a solid reputation as MEP engineers, we feel the time is right to bring Chaoming in to lead the structural team in Singapore. She will work with Dong to further expand our structural engineering and multi-disciplinary services across Asia and we are thrilled to welcome her to the growing team.

“In the past few years, we have gradually brought in specialisms such as security and building controls and have received great feedback as a result. Our aim is to add value to our new and existing clients with a truly multi-disciplinary offering.”
